All the gas stations along the Alcan are older than dirt and few and far between, which really jammed us up a couple times when we had to pull over and sleep in the middle of the night to wait for one to open. We were definitely looking forward to being back in the US with 24 hr. gas stations off every exit.
Stopping for lunch on our first day on the road, somewhere off the Alcan. IT was SOOOOO good!:)
Hot but gooooood!:) She knows how to blow on her food now! So cute!:)
My turn to drive so Honey can sleep... don't know how much sleep he actually got with me behind the wheel though:)
Some good rain along the way:) Love the sound and size of the drops!:)
God's creation shining with splendor.... so much beautiful scenery to see along the way!
With my little Jakubauskas. Here's how we got there. Hubs called him that a couple times and it stuck. The name comes from a Mariners player, not necessarily because of the player himself but (stating the obvious) because of JAK-abauskas. Yes, that is poo in the window, whoops! Think of it as "reality road trip photography".
We saw A (one) buffaloe (Hubs informed me that buffaloe has no "e" on the end. I self righteously and matter a factly said, "Why not?" Then we laughed about it, ha ha.) OK, so ONE buffalo, we took pictures from the truck window as we drove slowly by... Saw another one, cool, more picks. That was neat!
Cruisin' along. WHOA!!! BRAKE BRAKE!!! There was a whole heard in the middle of the road, and they were not in a big hurry to get out of the way either. Yeah, it was pretty way cool:)
Then we got to the country farm part of Canada.... LOVE IT!
Rolling plains, farm houses and barns, bails of hay, and moo cows. Love me the country!
As you can imagine the trip got quite long and boring, especially for Hubs who did virtually all the driving. I don't know how he did it, pulling all those all-nighters!
Judge all you want but 6 days was way to long to keep them in their car seats the WHOLE time. Jack came out frequently to eat and hang out. Kate even got to come hang out up front sometimes. She LOVED it!
We stopped at the Edmonton Mall, so HUGE! Kate had a great time roding the carousel inside, one of many rides in their carnival area which also included a HUGE roller coaster. They also had a HUGE water park in another part of the mall..... It was cool checking it all out.
Grande Coffee Frapaccino please:)
It only took her 2000 miles but she finally figured out how to get out of her carseat by herself. Oh boy.
'Bauskas!
He slept soooooo much on this trip! AND started sleeping through the night too! He's awesome at it now!:)
In the US now. Stopping for the night at a hotel before we drive on to see Patrick's sister Pam in Nebraska. As you can imagine, she had just a little energy to burn off after being cooped up in the truck for so long. Can we say BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS!
