Before we left Anchorage I strategically plotted and went shopping for new toys and stuff to keep her attention for all the hours on end she would be spending in the truck.
How do you entertain a toddler in a truck for 6 days? Let me count the ways...
1. Reading books.
2. An Elmo board book with a drawing etch sketch on it... Best $10 I ever spent! She loved it! Hours of entertainment!
3. Barbie laptop toy. This was a disappointment as it was to advanced for her age, but she did play with it some. I guess she can grow into it "ay".
4. Putting puzzles together. She mastered this one right away! Also, just hanging out in the front seat with Mom and Dad is entertaining all on its own:)
5. They didn't have any Jack's at the store, so luckily we already had one. Forcing her Bro to play Pat A Cake with her... He had fun too:) We also sang songs as a family, doing the motions is a must for the ultimate fun factor. Having lots of snacks on hand and other toys to play with is a good idea too.
6. Stop and let her stretch her legs. She ran around the truck like a little ball of energy and made sure to slam the doors shut over and over for some extra fun:)
7. AND of course, when all else fails, the mamma-jamma number one way to entertain your toddler on the road... LOT's of Elmo in the DVD player!
We're not gonna lie, by the end of the trip we didn't care how much of the devil contraption she watched as long as she was happy:) ha ha. Do I even have to say that she LOOOOOVED it!
Although we started out trying to pace ourselves, we used up all our tricks by around day 3? No worries, these tricks can be repeated over and over and over... We must say that over all the kids did awesome and exceeded our expectations. What a great trip and what a great memory for our family!:)
