Backpacking Lost Lake, Day 1

Asleep so sweet on the way to Seward for a backpack trip.
All bundled up and ready to go! Adorable:)Notice my champion socks over her legs:) Ingenuity. Good job Mommy:)In light of not waiting for Summer, we set out hiking in the rain in Seward on the Lost Lake trail to a cabin in the woods which hubs had reserved....
Pretty water fall. Don't slip Hubs!:)
Some scenery... It was so wet outside and our packs were so heavy after an hour or so! At the end we started to get cold (wet hands and feet mainly) Hubs and I were both SO ready to be done and the cabin was NOwhere in sight. Could we have missed the trail somewhere?
This is me in the crux of our hike, wet, tired, sniffling with runny nose, neck and shoulders aching from the weight of the pack... What a challenge...
We even came upon some snow that hadn't melted yet (uh, obviously:))...
It was a little after 8:00 at night, when Hubs said we would give it 25 more minutes before we turned around and just went back home. Uh, which would have been another 2 hours of hiking to get back, but we couldn't risk getting stuck out there in the elements with no shelter and our BABY. Uh, and even if we didn't have Kate with us, we still couldn't be out all night in the rain and cold with not shelter. We hadn't packed a tent because we were hiking to a cabin.... I started praying, "Lord, please let us get to the cabin soon...." It wasn't to much longer, and then we finally reached the cabin. Praise the Lord! What a beautiful sight! We were there and hadn't gone the wrong way!!!
Hubs getting sleeping bag ready:)
Warming up... Sweeters was lovin' Daddy's watch.
She has sprouted two bottom teeth now:)
Made some popcorn over our jet stove...
Because of how the bunks were, Hubs slept in his own bunk and Sweeters and I slept together... She did really well... I on the other hand didn't get much sleep, but oh well:) Still lovin' Daddy's watch:)
