Backpacking Lost Lake, Day 2

Kate had so much fun playing around the cabin and climbing on the bunks:)
"Clemens Cabin" was SO COOL! It had a propane heater, a sweet loft, a nice out house (uh, as far as outhouses go), 4 beds with cushy pads on them, table and benches, counter, and a spectacular view of the town of Seward... We were out all by ourselves nestled in the woods. So neat! Great cabin! :)
Hubs determined to start a fire. Everything was pretty wet from the night before...
Thought we might roast some marshmallows for smores... I let Kate hold the stick... but quickly took it back... The fire was weak do to the wetness outside. We ended up not doing smores, and heading back shortly...

Hubs looked at the map inside the cabin and found a shorter route back to the car. It was a steep downhill descent for a lot of it, so we were glad we didn't go TO the cabin on that route... but glad we came home on it:) It only took about an hour and we were off to Seward (town) to get some grub and head home. What a fun trip! We wouldn't mind going back sometime!:) However, once we have more babies and Kate gets older it gets tricky because, she will have to walk, and we also have to carry out our supplies... So it will probably be a while before we do something like this again... That's OK though, I like being able to bring everything but the kitchen sink car camping:)

As we were coming off the trail to go to the car, we came upon this helicopter. We got to watch it take off... They were doing trail maintenance... cool.
Such a happy baby:) Such a trooper! How does she put up with these crazy parents carting her off camping, hiking, biking...
I told hubs on the way up, "The best part about hiking is being done." And so it is:) Challenging but fun and good to be done:) Done for some rest, some grub, and some relaxation...

She's fine:) By now she has forgotten about it, but Daddy just wants to make sure:) Awe:)We got back into town and went to see my "pastor crush," James MacDonald that night, speaking at ABT..... What a great preacher and teacher of the Word! SO GOOD! What a blessing and encouragement!:)
