Memorial Day Memories

Started the morning off bright and early (8 a.m.) to run 10 miles with Rach & April. Afterwards, we stopped at Starbucks to replenish. I know. Healthy huh:) We were definently hurting that day and the next. My knees were killin' me.... yadda yadda yadda... Up to this point I had only done up to around 4.5 miles. So, now I have no excuse not to make myself go on longer runs. Overall: We were proud of ourselves. Yay us!
Typical cuteness at our house:)
Went on a bike ride and tried our running/biking stroller with the bike for the first time. Kate did great! I road behind to keep watch. Hubs definently had to get used to navigating and planning his path ahead of time with the precious cargo on board behind him. You definently can't just fly over bumps and stuff like you would riding solo. We are so proud of how our little Sweeters is with us dragging her along on our excursions: track meets, walks, hikes, biking... The next big thing? Camping...What a fun time!:)
Life in Alaska is definently wild and unique, like no other... We biked to the Hoffmans to find Crystal out on her deck watching this mama moose and her NEW BORN baby. Allow me to tell you her story...

That morning, Crystal woke up to discover the mama moose in labor in their back yard. Of course she woke everyone up, called her hubby who was out four wheeling, called her parents on the 17th hole of a golf tournament, who proceeded to excitedly tell those around them... So excited! She was constantly watching and checking on the laboring moose just waiting to see it give birth. When she left for just the briefest little bit of time to do something, came back MOMENTS later, and there's the baby. DOH! She missed it!

By the time we got to the Hoffmans it was evening, and Crystal had spent the better part of her day watching, mesmerized by the mama moose and her little one. Of course, they video taped it and took tons of pictures... Wish we could have seen it clumsily stumbling around after its mommy:) Aawe:)
Daddy and Kate chillin' in the hamock on the Hoffman's back deck...
